Between April 8th and April 11th StatementOut participated in the InkJet Summit held at Ponte Vedra Florida. This is an annual industry event that is a combination of work flow case-studies and opportunities for vendors and companies to meet one on one. It’s also a great forum for industry executives to compare notes, discuss industry trends, and form relationships while playing golf and enjoying one of the nicest beaches in the country.
The trend toward higher paper prices was a major concern for everyone and in attendance were representatives of five major paper suppliers. To summarize, the end of the supply shortage is in sight and paper prices should stabilize moving forward.
The transactional print world is still slowly moving from toner-based to inkjet production printers which lower color prices and increase productivity. The cost of acquisition is substantially higher for inkjet machines and the required finishing equipment. It was interesting to note that the problems and concerns for each company were remarkably similar despite geographic location and size.
