Direct Mail production has many synergies with statement processing. Minimize

Direct Mail preparation is very similar to statement production.  In most cases, the finished advertising piece is presorted in accordance with Standard Mail rules, addressed, inserted if necessary, and entered into the postal system.  Having the equipment and knowledge base to support both operations is a benefit to customers who can use a single trusted vendor for all their mailing needs.

StatementOut maintains a high volume direct mail and letter shop capability with multiple ink-jet machines with in-line tabbing, folders, cutters, and non-intelligent inserting machines.  Although an apples to oranges comparison would be appropriate there are enough similarities that providing both services makes sense.

Mailing & the United States Postal Service

Upon acceptance by Business Mail Entry Clerks the mail is the responsibility of the United States Post Office. Generally, First Class mail will be delivered in 2 to 3 days and Standard Mail will be delivered in 14 days or less. The Post Office does not make guarantees concerning Standard or First Class delivery and has very limited means for tracking these categories. The best way to track your mail is to seed the list and monitor delivery.

When a mail house processes your mail, they are doing a lot of the work for the USPS, such as presorting, bar coding, properly addressing and traying the pieces. Because of this, the postage rate is much lower for properly prepared business mail and everybody wins.

By automating and presorting First Class mail (500 or more pieces), the postage will be in the .325 to .365 range. Standard Mail (200 or more pieces) rates will usually be in the .21 to .24 range and Non-Profit rates as low as .10 cents can be obtained.

Utilizing the experience and expertise of mailing industry professionals is always a good idea for any business, municipality, or non-profit organization.
